Antigua, the old colonial capitol, has a wonderful arts scene and is a great mix of old and new. Tikal, in the Peten region, is a UNESCO World Heritage sight and perhaps the best know ancient Mayan city, set in the mysterious deep jungles of the northern part of the country. Guatemala City, the current capitol, is a bustling city with colonial architecture, fine hotels, and wonderful museums.
